The Timberland story has a rich history that began in 1952 when Nathan Swartz bought part of the Abington Shoe Company. In 1973, the company name was changed to Timberland and has since created innovative ways to equip their customers with a product that can help them make a difference in the world; one waterproof shoe at a time. Timberland has been able to establish a tough, rugged brand of shoes that remains stylish and trendy, while also keeping up with the cultural changes in America. In 2005, Timberland expanded their product line and introduced the Timberland Boot Co. It brought a premium line to the brand while still keeping to the original mission of the company. Abington made its debut in 2008 when Timberland created a division to show homage to the original company name (The Abington Shoe Company).
